showing you how to get out of the Automatic Mode to take control of your camera and
allowing you to get your pictures looking how you want them to look.

These are the main subjects we shall cover during your workshop.

Shooting Modes
Automatic, Semi-Auto and Manual
The different levels of control available to you, from the Automatic; Semi-automatic; to the Manual, Shooting Modes.
Each has their own advantages.
Exposure
Adjusting Your Exposure
A look at the Exposure Triangle and the three key settings of, Aperture (A); Shutter Speeds (S); and ISO.
So your images appear not too light or dark.
*Aperture (A) also called Aperture Priority (Av) and Shutter Speed (S) called Time Interval (Tv).


Metering
Select The Best Light Reading
Control how your camera measures the level of light, to help you to achieve a better exposure level.
Aperture
Creative Depth Of Field
Use your Aperture to control the area in focus, the Depth Of Field; to blur the background or to make it appear sharp.


Shutter Speed
Control Capturing Motion
Freeze fast moving subjects and blur slow subjects to add a sense of movement, with the right shutter speed.
ISO
Choosing The Right Sensitivity For Your Sensor
Select how sensitive your camera is to light, letting you capture images in brighter and darker lighting conditions.


White Balance
Creative Control Of The Colour Cast
Remove an unwanted colour cast when shooting under different types of light source. Or add them for creative effect.
Focus
Automatic & Manual Focussing
Get the best focus set up when shooting subjects that are either stationary or moving, or both, using the manual and auto-focus modes.

Frame Your Images
Simple guides to frame and compose your subject, making your image more powerful and interesting to view.

Training Support
To help you progress on your photography journey and to ensure you get the most from your experience with us, the following optional elements of training support are included with your Beginners Digital Photography workshop.

Pre-Workshop
To help you prepare, ten days before your workshop takes place, you will have access to your on-line resource of videos and check lists, which will help you prepare and help you get the most from your workshop experience.
This includes advice on what you should bring on your day.

Workshop
Your workshop is made up of short sessions, each looking at a particular key subject and divided into:-
- Explanation of a principle, skill or technique, with technical terms explained using non-technical language.
- Demonstrations of how to carry out the skill.
- Instructor led walk through with the skill broken down into easy to follow steps.
- Guided coaching as you put your new skill into practice .
Directly after your workshop your instructor will be available for at least 30 minutes for any further questions or to talk photography.

Post Workshop
After your workshop the following features are included to support, guide and help you as you start your journey with photography.
These are all optional so you can choose which suits you and you are welcome to take advantage of them all.
On Line Resource
This will now include a Summary Sheet of all the key points covered during your workshop, plus a mini-course series of videos which will take you through what was covered and includes some guided exercises to help you put your new skills into practise.
You have unlimited access to this resource into the future and any upgrades made to it.
Review Session
You will be invited to join an live on-line session where the key points from your workshop are covered and a chance for you to ask any questions that you may.
These normally take place one evening in the week following your workshop.
Office Hours
Twice a month you can join a live on-line Office Hour session, where you can ask any questions about your photography or photography training.
You have unlimited access to these into the future.
Community
You can join our private on-line community where you can get ideas, advice, ask questions and interact with like minded photographers and your instructor.

Competition & Exhibition
Your on-line resource will include details of how you can enter your images into our annual competition and perhaps see your images displayed in our exhibition.
With guidance on how to prepare and submit your images into the competition.
Competition
Those attending this workshop will be eligible to enter images into our annual competition and a beginners category. With a chance to win prizes.
Exhibition
Selected images along with those short listed for the category, will be displayed in an on-line exhibition.

For
This workshop is for those new to digital photography and would like to get out of the automatic camera mode. Those who have been away from photography for while may find it a good refresh of the main settings.
With a small group size, there is time for both group and individual coaching during your workshop.
This workshop shows you how to take control of your camera, introducing you to the main controls and basic composition rules, with tips and guidance on wider aspects of photography.
Access
Workshop locations has been chosen to be access friendly and with local facilities close by, plus with access to local public transport connections.
In total the walking distance covered throughout this workshop is a maximum of 0.5 mile / 0.8 km).

Carer / Guardian
Access carers without a camera can attend the workshop for free and for those who bring a camera, there is a 50% discount off the workshop fee.
A maximum of one carer per person.
The same discount rules apply for guardians of children under the age of 16, with a maximum of one child per guardian.
Children under the age of 16, must have a guardian in attendance throughout the workshop.
Equipment
All you need is your digital camera with the battery fully charged and your memory card empty of previous images.
Your on-line resource will give more details on what you might want to bring (ie: water & clothing).
