Entry Details

The theme of the photography competition is a photograph of a dog/dogs and it is up to you as to what they might be up to in your photograph.

The image of your photograph taken either by a digital camera or mobile phone camera needs to meet the following conditions so they can be fitted into the picture space of the calendar made up by the winning entries and give a good quality image when viewed and printed.

Please do not be put off if you do not understand any of the following terms, just take a look at the various ways you can get in touch or meet up for guidance. See the options at .... Contact Us

Because I will be offering guidance during the competition, I will not be involve in the judging process.

6. Editing Your Image:   Allowed.

Description With Notes.

1. Your photograph images are to be submitted electronically and not as a printed hard copy.
* This is due to limited time to being able to collect and handle physical prints. Plus it removes the cost of getting you image printed for those without a printer.

2. Aspect Ratio:     10 x 8 in, (3000 x 2400 px).
* Aspect ratio is the ratio of the width to the height of the image.
* Using the landscape aspect ratio of 10" x 8" will ensure the winning entries fit the intended calendar space with minimum or nil cropping.
* If your image is not landscape 10 x 8, you can use the 'cropping tool' which is freely available in free software found on computer and cameras.
* You can also take your image on a storage card or memory stick to Boots and use their print order machines to crop your image.
* Using software tools you can select to use Pixel Size (px) rather than Inches (in), converting 10" x 8" is equal to 3000 px x 2400 px.

3. File Format:   JPEG.
* JPEG is a standard way your image file is stored on your camera/computer or memory storage device and when sent, can be seen by others on their computer.
* Before taking your image check your camera/phone camera setting for '
Image Quality' is set to - JPEG FINE.

4. File Size:   5 to 8 MB.
* The size your image file needs to be large enough so the printed photography in the calendar is good enough quality.
* Below 5 MB and the image may appear not sharp and if above 8 MB, some e-mail platforms may not send the image when submitting your entry.
* If you crop your image make sure you check the file size afterwards and before submitting, as cropping you image removes some of the image information and reduces the file size.

5. Information Added To Images:   None.
* No additional information is to be added onto your image such as watermarks, logos, or signatures.
* Images selected for the calendar will have the photographers name added in a uniform format for all images, just prior before being sent for printing.
* No business names to be used, just first and last name.

6. Editing Your Image:   Allowed.
* You can edit your image as much you like but bare in mind if your image is selected as one of the final twelve for the calendar, the overall winner is selected by visitors to Coffee 78 cafe who may not like a heavily edited image perhaps nearing digital art rather than photography.
This is a photography competition.
