Themed Workshops

Architectural Photography (Medieval)
St Cross, Winchester, Hampshire
June 11th, Friday
October 22nd, Friday
10:00 am to 4:30 pm
Group size - 10 maximum
£147.00
These beautiful medieval buildings and Norman church at St Cross, offer us a great place to learn and practise architectural photography. With lots of interesting locations for us to learn our skills.
Also, we will look at capturing the buildings from the water meadows outside and perhaps any wildlife around, including the herd of rare cattle that roam freely.
As this is a working alms house, our workshop will be tailored to fit in with any events that may be going on, or work around any restrictions on the day.
We may witness the 'brothers' who live there is full uniform dress, or a wedding reception in the gardens; all great photographic opportunities against a great backdrop, for us to turn our hand to.

Cathedral Views (Salisbury)
Salisbury, Wiltshire
June 12th, Saturday
August 13th, Friday
October 8th, Friday
10:00 am to 4:30 pm
Group size - 10 maximum
£147.00
This grand cathedral acts as a great subject for us to capture from many angles. Up close within the cathedral grounds and on a short walk along the river Avon, looking to find our own version of the painter Constable's - 'Salisbury Cathedral From The Meadows'.
The walk will also allow us to capture land and waterscapes, plus a range of visiting wildlife.

War On The Line
Alton/Alresford, Hampshire
June 13th, Sunday
10:00 am to 4:30 pm
Group size - 8 maximum
£127.00
This a great opportunity to capture a wide range of both military and civilian life, around the railways, during the war years of the 1940's.
There are lots of period working displays and re-enactors, which bring the whole line to life. A step back to a different era.
We will be looking at how to best capture the environment as we travel via steam engines along the line and visit the display areas.

Water Gardens
Longstock, Hampshire
June 21st, Monday
9:30 am to 4:00 pm
Group size - 10 maximum
£97.00 Launch Offer
These beautifully maintained water gardens offer us a great display of colour and textures at this time of year, with a great diversity of plants and trees. Sited within woodland valleys and crystal clear waters, which attracts a range of wildlife. Plenty of subjects for us to capture.
This is a private day during which only a couple of small groups are allowed access to the water gardens, which ensures that there are very few other people around compared to normal open days. This is a great advantage for us to capture images without the crowds of people getting in the way.

Birds Of Prey
Hawk Conservancy Trust, Weyhill, Hampshire:
July 2nd, Friday
August 30th, Monday
October 7th, Thursday
10:00 am to 4:30 pm
Group size - 10 maximum
£127.00
The trust is home to a large collection of beautiful birds of prey, that provide great subjects for us to capture both whilst they are stationary and also when 'on the wing' ….. flying during the displays.
These flying displays each have different themes and locations, during which different birds are flown and each display offers us different challenges for our photography, which you will be guided through. From low level passes across wild flower meadows; very fast action and multiple birds flying at once; and birds weaving through the woods under reduced light of trees canopy.
We work very much in align with the trusts daily program to ensure we witness events like the vulture breakfast, which take place between the displays.

Zoo Wildlife
Marwell Zoo, Hampshire
July 3rd, Saturday
July 9th, Friday
August 12th, Thursday
10:00 am to 4:30 pm
Group size - 10 maximum
£127.00
A wide selection of wildlife in a range of indoor and outside locations, for us to learn and practise the control of our camera, whilst capturing a range of images.
Variety of large/small; fast/slow; shy/aggressive animals, offer a range of challenges which you will be guided through how to overcome to capture your images.
How to shoot with the ever changing lighting levels throughout the day outside and also under the various types of indoor lighting conditions, we will encounter in some of enclosures is also covered.

Windsor Views
Windsor & Eton, Berkshire
July 24th, Saturday
October 21st, Thursday
Group size - 10 maximum
10:00 am to 4:30 pm
£147.00
The castle is the main subject for us to shoot as we wander around the old town, into Eton and along the river Thames, looking for those vantage points to shoot from. Also capturing other local subjects of interest.
In addition, local wildlife provides good subjects to capture as they go about their business.
* Please note we do not tour inside the castle - too crowded and slow moving for our workshop - it really needs a separate day.

Engines Of Steam
Alton/Alresford, Hampshire
August 16th, Monday
September 1st, Wednesday
Group size - 10 maximum
10:00 am to 4:30 pm
£127.00
Plenty of action to capture with these magnificent engines under steam and you most certainly do not have to be a steam train fan to get a lot from this workshop.
We will be looking at how to best capture the engines when both static and moving, controlling how to capture the motion using the shutter speed whilst balancing our exposure level.
Plus we shall be shooting the whole environment along the railway line and atmosphere from a by-gone era. The wider railway infrastructure including a signal box, period buildings, platform gardens and the restoration work being carried out in the engineering shed.
